The Millville Wings and Wheels Air Show, held Memorial Day Weekend at Millville Airport, NJ, lost it’s main attraction when the US Navy Blue Angels cancelled after a safety lapse at an airshow the previous weekend in Virginia. This error caused the team to go on an indefinite safety stand-down resulting from this event.
Quick thinking by David Schultz Airshows producing the airshow more than made up for the Blues not flying. Shuffling the flying and adding acts kept planes in the skies throughout the day to please the crowds on hand. Taking the place as show closer was the USAF F-16 Viper West Demonstration Team leading into the USAF Heritage Flight to close the show.
The list of performers flying the show include Matt Chapman, Mike Wiskus, Tim Weber, Jason Flood, Kevin Russo and the Red Eagles Airsports. The US Army Golden Knights performed twice during the day showing their amazing talent.
The Northeast Raiders Aerobatic Team flying a precision formation demo was also a sight to be seen by all. A flyby on Saturday had two NJANG F-16’s from the 177 th based at Atlantic City International Airport and a C-17 from McGuire AFB. Also taking to the skies over Millville were a flight of L Birds and a T-6/SNJ flight formation. To slow things down a little, a 1911 Curtiss Pusher did a couple of not too fast passes around the airfield. Helicopter demos included the US Coast Guard, NJ State Police and Atlantic Health Medical Hospital copter.
This show gets a solid 8+ and I want to thank everyone from the David Schultz Airshows, Lisa Jester and Donna Vertolli for all their help and information before and during the show.
