|
This is a
major air show and open house of the Joint Service of the Department
of Defence; USAF, NAVY, MARINES and ARMY. Due to security
parking is off site at the FedEx Field, from where shuttle
buses are provided for transportation to Andrews AFB. Due to
the huge crowds 150,000 to 250,000 on the weekend there is
a considerable wait to get on the buses. Security is quite
tight.
|
This
year the featured performers included the Blue Angels, F-22 Demo
Team, AV-8B Harrier Demo, the Golden Knights. The USAF Heritage
Flight consisted of the F-22, F-16 and the P-51D Glamorous Girl. |
The
static display was huge this year,just like any previous years;
from AFVS, such as the M-1A2 Abrams, M-2A3 Bradley, to helicopters
such as the AH-1W Cobra, CH-53 Sea Stallion, to WWII warbirds
like the B-17 Memphis Belle among the many.
|
The
weather was relatively pleasant providing
good photographic opportunities. It is recommended to have plenty
of sunblock and bring your chairs as you will be sitting on the
concrete apron. Food
and beverage are plentiful but expensive, with adequate sanitation
facilities.
