2009 Air Shows

WINGS & WHEELS HERITAGE FESTIVAL

Location: Downsview Park,Toronto, at the Canadian Air and Space Museum
Admission: Adult $15, Weekend pass $25
Parking: Free
Value: Excellent

The event is held jointly on the grounds of the Downsview Park and Toronto Aero Space Museum aka The Canadian Air & Space Museum. The Museum is the home of the Avro Arrow full scale replica. It is not a true air show, as there are no show performers, only fly in static exhibits. However, it is a cozy event, the staff are friendly and well organized with displays from the Museum, from local car clubs, and aircraft flown in especially for the event. This included the CF-18 Hornet from the Canadian Forces, and two privately owned jets: a Russian made MiG 15UTi, 2 seat trainer, and an Aero L-29 Delphin, 2 seat trainer made in the former Czechoslovakia.

Hawk One, a refurbished classic RCAF F-86 Sabre jet failed to materialize due to engine problems . Instead, a P-51D Mustang and a FG-1D Corsair were flown in to take its place from Vintage Wings of Canada.

Over all Wings & Wheels is a good value and a must see for any aviation enthusiast in the Greater Toronto Area.
